Emma Allen

Dr Emma Allen is a Lecturer at the School of Law, Keele University, since 2019. She holds a PhD in International Law from Keele (2020), funded by the UK Arts and Humanities Research Council, and earned her LLM in International Law with French (Distinction) and LLB in Law with Philosophy (First Class Honours) from the same institution in 2015 and 2011. She previously pursued the LPC at the University of Law in Chester (Distinction) before transitioning to academia.

• Specialises in Public International Law, focusing on statehood, self-determination, and climate change-induced territorial loss
• Expertise in climate law, environmental law, and law of the sea
• Active in pedagogic research involving AI in education, decolonising curricula, and game-based learning

She contributes to the Climate Change and Sustainability Pathway within Keele's Global Challenge Program and serves on external bodies like the Centre for Small States at Queen Mary University of London and the International Law Association Committee on International Law and Sea Level Rise. Her work on the SLS 'The Law School and the Climate Crisis' Fund highlights her engagement with sustainability initiatives in legal education.
