Emine Fetvaci

Emine Fetvaci is the Norma Jean Calderwood University Professor in Islamic and Asian Art at Boston College's Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences. She holds a B.A. from Williams College and a Ph.D. from Harvard University. Her research focuses on Islamic art and architecture, particularly the arts of the book, Ottoman, Mughal, and Safavid artistic traditions, and early-modern courtly societies. She has authored seminal works including Picturing History at the Ottoman Court (2013) and The Album of the World Emperor (2019), which explore imperial patronage and cross-cultural artistic exchange. Her work has been recognized with the M. Fuat Köprülü Book Prize (2014) and a Morey Award nomination (2021).

Her teaching spans courses on Islamic art history, Ottoman architecture, and the cultural legacy of Istanbul. Fetvaci has held prestigious fellowships at Stanford University and the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton. Her current research examines artistic connections between the Ottoman and Mughal Empires.
