Emily Strasser is a Professor of the Practice in the Department of English at Tufts University, within the School of Arts and Sciences. She holds a BA from Vassar College (2010) and an MFA from the University of Minnesota (2016). Her research focuses on Creative Nonfiction, Journalism, Nuclear Weapons History, Climate Change, and the Anthropocene, with particular attention to themes of secrecy and environmental ethics.
Her notable work includes the award-winning book Half-Life of a Secret: Reckoning with a Hidden History (2023), recognized with the 2024 Reed Environmental Writing Award and Minnesota Book Award. She also produced the 2020 BBC podcast The Bomb, exploring nuclear history. Her writing appears in outlets like Catapult, Guernica, and Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists.
