Emily Ross

Emily Ross is a Teaching Professor and Director of Introductory Mathematics at the Department of Mathematics, Physics, Astronomy & Statistics within the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Missouri - Saint Louis (UMSL). She has been affiliated with UMSL since August 2000, initially as a part-time instructor before transitioning to a full-time role in January 2001.

Her research interests focus on the interdisciplinary applications of mathematics, particularly in art, architecture, and music. She has developed innovative courses such as Geometry in the Real World and The Music of Math, which bridge mathematical concepts with creative disciplines. Additionally, she contributes to curriculum design and administration through her leadership in the UMSL Math Placement Test.

As Director of Introductory Mathematics, she oversees foundational courses and supports student success in mathematics. Her teaching portfolio includes a broad range of subjects, from basic algebra to advanced calculus, reflecting her commitment to accessible and applied mathematical education.
