Professor Emily Munro is the Goldberg Professor of Social Work Research and Director of both the Tilda Goldberg Centre for Social Work and Social Care and the Institute of Applied Social Research at the University of Bedfordshire. With over £8 million in research funding, her international work focuses on child welfare policy transitions.
Her research explores child and family social work systems, participatory methodologies, and care leaver transitions. Key interests include comparative welfare policies, ethical research practices with vulnerable populations, and systemic interventions for youth aging out of care systems.
Publications consistently address innovations in social care delivery, pandemic adaptations for vulnerable youth, and international policy comparisons. Recent work demonstrates strong emphasis on implementation science and cross-national studies of care systems.

Leads the NHS-funded Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes Integrated Care Research Hub and supervises multiple doctoral candidates. Directs research teams examining mental health support for care leavers and service innovations.
