Emily McEachern

Emily McEachern serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Sciences at Rhode Island College, holding a B.S. from the University of South Carolina and a Ph.D. from the University of Alabama.

Her research program pioneers synergistic metal-ligand cooperative catalysts, focusing on organic ligand frameworks that collaborate with metal centers to activate challenging polar bonds (H₂, C-H, C-C, C-O, O-H). This work directly addresses critical needs in medicinal chemistry by enabling efficient synthesis of bioactive molecules through unconventional bond cleavage/formation pathways that transcend traditional metal-centered catalysis.

Dr. McEachern instructs undergraduate courses including General Chemistry (CHEM 104) and Inorganic Chemistry (CHEM 403), integrating her research expertise into the chemistry curriculum while advancing catalyst design principles for pharmaceutical applications.
