Mrs Emily Knowles is a Senior Lecturer in Midwifery at the University of Northampton's Faculty of Health, Education and Society. She qualified as a midwife from the University of Nottingham in 2015 with a first-class honours degree and worked in a tertiary maternity unit before transitioning into academia in 2019.

Her research focuses on perinatal mental health, quality of care improvement, iatrogenesis reduction, and pregnancy complications. She has contributed to a collaborative multicentre study developing an e-learning package for estimating blood loss during waterbirth, demonstrating her commitment to innovative healthcare solutions.
At the University of Northampton, Emily leads the Cultural Competence in Midwifery module (MID2034) and serves as an academic assessor for Milton Keynes University Hospital. She is currently undertaking the Examination of the Newborn course while maintaining active clinical research engagement.
