Emily Jahnke is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Social Work program at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. She joined the faculty in August 2022, returning to the institution where she earned her Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) in 2008. Prior to her faculty role, she worked for 11 years as a certified social worker, specializing in school social work after completing her Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2011. Emily has also held diverse roles at The Salvation Army of Brown County, including positions in the Youth Community Center, Emergency Services, and Transitional Housing Program.

Her professional focus centers on social justice, decolonization, and trauma, with post-graduate training in Restorative Practices, Trauma Informed Care/Trauma Sensitive Schools, Zones of Regulation, Mindfulness Practices, Compassion Resilience, and School-based Mental Health. Emily is deeply engaged in grassroots community initiatives and maintains connections with individuals she has worked with throughout her career.
Outside of her academic and professional commitments, Emily enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, participating in movie marathons, writing poetry, gardening, and baking with her daughter. She values humor and storytelling as tools for bridging differences within her large extended family.
