Emily Huddart is a Professor and Associate Head in the Department of Sociology at the University of British Columbia, Faculty of Arts. Her research centers on environmental sociology, sustainable consumption, and the social dynamics of civic engagement in environmental protection.

Research Interests:
Her research program explores how gender, class, and political ideology shape environmental beliefs and practices. She investigates two key questions: what motivates civic engagement in environmental protection, and how do pro-environmental behaviors reproduce social differences and polarization?

- 2023–2029: SSHRC Insight Grant – "Defining, explaining, and disrupting affective climate polarisation in Canada"
- 2019–2021: SSHRC Insight Development Grant – "Who cares about the environment? How class and politics are related to environmental beliefs, preferences and impacts"
