Emily Hobson

Emily K. Hobson is Associate Professor of Gender, Race, and Identity and History at University of Nevada, Reno. She holds a PhD in American Studies & Ethnicity from University of Southern California (2009).

Research analyzes radical social movements in postwar America, particularly LGBTQ liberation, HIV/AIDS activism, and anti-carceral organizing, with emphasis on intersectional analysis of race, gender, and sexuality.

Current fellowship: National Humanities Center (2024-25) supports research on HIV/AIDS activism in prisons during the 1980s-1990s.

Teaching: Courses in U.S. social movements, queer/trans studies, and feminist theory.
