Dr. Emily Hand is Associate Professor and Graduate Director in Computer Science & Engineering at University of Nevada, Reno, leading the Machine Perception Lab. Her research bridges computer vision and human perception, specializing in face/action recognition and machine learning explainability. She earned her PhD from University of Maryland and directs projects on facial verification systems and dataset quality analysis.
Her work develops multi-task networks for attribute recognition and investigates label noise identification in facial datasets. Teaching includes graduate courses in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, with community outreach through Girls Who Code.
