Emily Drummer is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Film at Vassar College. She holds a BA from Hampshire College and an MFA from the University of Iowa. Her filmmaking practice uses immersive research to investigate the dynamic between technology and the natural world.
Research interests focus on reimagining cinematic conventions through ecological and historical lenses, with films exploring environmental devastation, technological mediation of intimacy, and historical labor practices in cinema.
Her creative work received prestigious awards including MacDowell and Princess Grace Foundation fellowships. Scholarly contributions include co-authoring articles on women's roles in early cinema.
