Emily Baines is Senior Lecturer in the School of Design within De Montfort University's Faculty of Arts, Design and Humanities. She specializes in creative industry analysis, textile/fashion history, sustainability in fashion, and material culture theory.
Research interests include:
- Sustainable development in fashion/textile industries
- Corporate sustainability strategy
- Historical analysis of British textiles (1919-1940)
- West African textiles and modernism
Currently supervises PhD candidates researching fashion history, sustainable supply chains, and cultural heritage. Previously led research projects including AHRC-funded 'Talking Textiles, Making Value' and Digital Heritage initiatives.
