Emily Alvarez

Emily Alvarez is the Director of Choral Activities and Voice Instructor at Lakeland University. She holds a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Southern Illinois University and a Bachelor of Arts in Music and History from Luther College, where she graduated summa cum laude and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

Her research interests and performances span opera, musical theater, and art song. Notable roles include soprano soloist in Stephen Paulus’ Luther Mass, performances in Die Fledermaus, The King & I, and Carmina Burana. She also directs the Lakeland Choir and maintains a private voice studio.

Students under her mentorship have secured professional contracts with the Skylight Opera Company and KIDS From Wisconsin, with some winning first place in NATS District auditions.
