Emilio Badoer

Professor Emilio Badoer is a Professor in the Department of Health and Biomedical Sciences at RMIT University. His research focuses on the role of the central nervous system in regulating sympathetic nerve activity, particularly in cardiovascular and metabolic disease states. He investigates neuroinflammatory mechanisms in diabetes, adipokine signaling (e.g., leptin, resistin), and the impact of metabolic disorders on brain function. His work bridges basic science and translational research, with contributions to understanding neuroendocrine interactions and autonomic control systems.

Teaching interests align with his research, emphasizing integrative physiology and neuroendocrine regulation. He has published extensively on topics such as brain inflammation in heart failure, the crosstalk between cardiovascular and metabolic systems, and the effects of high-fat diets on neuronal activity. His research has been supported by studies in animal models and clinical implications for metabolic syndrome, diabetes, and neurodevelopmental programming.
