Emiliano Cortés

Emiliano Cortés holds a W2 tenure-track professorship at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU) Faculty of Physics and leads the Plasmonic Chemistry Group. He maintains visiting affiliations with the Chemistry Department at University College London and the Physics Department at Imperial College London.

His research bridges chemistry and physics, focusing on nanomaterials for energy conversion, photocatalysis, and electrocatalysis. He co-founded the start-up Nanodetection based on plasmonic sensing technology and serves as Principal Investigator for two German excellence clusters: Nanoinitiative Munich (NIM) and e-conversion. Cortés received the prestigious ERC Starting Grant in 2018 for his CATALIGHT project.
