About
Dr. Emiliana Fabbri is a senior scientist at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) in Switzerland, affiliated with the PSI Center for Energy and Environmental Sciences and the Laboratory for Electrochemistry. She earned her PhD in Materials Science from the University of Rome Tor Vergata (Italy) in December 2008, with part of her research conducted under Prof. E. Wachsman at the University of Florida (USA).
Research Focus: Her work centers on electrochemical energy storage and conversion, particularly metal oxides as catalysts for fuel cells and water electrolysis. She investigates solid-state ionic conductors, electrochemical reaction mechanisms, and surface chemistry using operando X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS), and X-ray diffraction (XRD).
Awards:
- SNSF PRIMA grant (2020) for 'Materials developments for energy storage through water electrolysis'
- NCCR MARVEL Agility Plus grant (2020) as group leader in Design and Discovery Project 4
Teaching: She actively teaches at ETH Zurich (courses: 529-0191-01L, 529-0507-00L) and the University of Basel (course: Electrochemistry: Basics and Practice, 64133-01).
