Emil Leeger

Emil Leeger serves as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Dance Production, Faculty of Music and Dance, Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava (VŠMU), where he transitioned from external teacher (2016–2023) to internal faculty in 2023 following his doctoral completion. He concurrently holds a position as internal assistant director at the Slovak National Theatre Opera since 2024, leveraging his dual expertise in performance and pedagogy.

His educational trajectory includes:

• Graduation from the Academy of Performing Arts, Prague (2005) in Theatre Arts - Acting
• Specialized physical theatre studies at Gardzienice Academy, Poland (2003–2004)
• Dissertation defense on "Voice and Acting Training in Dance Theatre and Performance" (2023)

Leeger's research pioneers the synthesis of vocal techniques and acting methodologies within dance performance contexts. His work investigates how embodied speech practices enhance dancer expressivity, particularly through physical theatre frameworks. This manifests in curriculum development focused on interdisciplinary training where vocal expression becomes integral to movement-based storytelling, directly addressing gaps in traditional dance pedagogy. His dissertation established foundational principles for applying Stanislavskian and Grotowskian techniques to contemporary dance theatre scenarios.
