Emad Habib

Emad Habib serves as a Professor and Executive Director of the Institute for Coastal & Water Research (ICaWR) at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, concurrently directing the Louisiana Watershed Flood Center within the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering.

Research Focus: His work centers on flood resilience, water resources engineering, coastal engineering, and environmental engineering, addressing critical challenges in watershed management and flood control for coastal regions like Louisiana.

Current Initiatives: He leads a $5.8 million NSF-funded project investigating flood impacts and developing community resilience strategies, representing significant ongoing research investment.

Research Infrastructure: Through ICaWR and the Louisiana Watershed Flood Center, Dr. Habib oversees interdisciplinary teams focused on practical solutions for flood mitigation and water resource sustainability.
