Elsa Pibou

Elsa Pibou is a Lecturer in Sociology at the Purpan School of Engineering/University of Toulouse and an Associate Researcher in the AFPYR research program at the Interdisciplinary Laboratory for Solidarity, Societies, Territories (LISST). She is affiliated with the LISST-Rural Dynamics research group, where she conducts research on peasant agriculture, land circulation, and rural transformations. Her work bridges academic research with practical applications in agricultural education and rural development.

Dr. Pibou's research interests focus on the modalities of agricultural land circulation and transmission, recomposition of peasant identities and relationships to land, transformation of rural space, and development of social and solidarity economy experiences in rural areas. She employs innovative research methodologies, particularly audiovisual approaches, to document and analyze rural realities. Her work often examines the Terre de Liens movement and alternative agricultural systems that challenge conventional farming models.

Her recent publications reveal a consistent trajectory examining post-growth agricultural models, peasant contributions to food transitions, and the use of film as a research and pedagogical tool. These works demonstrate her commitment to understanding sustainable rural futures through interdisciplinary lenses that combine sociology, geography, and visual anthropology. Dr. Pibou has served as a representative to the Research Commission of the University of Toulouse II-Jean Jaurès and to the TESC doctoral school, demonstrating her active engagement in academic governance.
