About
Ellyn Enderlin is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geosciences at Boise State University, leading the Cryosphere Geophysics and Remote Sensing (CryoGARS) Group. Her research focuses on glaciology, ice-ocean interactions, remote sensing, and climate change impacts on glaciers. She holds a PhD in Earth Sciences from The Ohio State University (2013) and has extensive postdoctoral and faculty experience.
Research interests include analyzing marine-terminating glaciers, iceberg calving, subglacial hydrology, and snow dynamics using remote sensing and numerical modeling. Her work emphasizes understanding glacier sensitivity to climate change and societal impacts. She collaborates widely, including with the University of Idaho and NASA.
Recent achievements include NSF funding for Alaska glacier studies, publications on glacier surges and Antarctic iceberg melt, and mentoring over 20 students. Key milestones include her tenure promotion in 2023 and awards such as the Arthur D. Howard Award. She actively engages in outreach, mentoring underrepresented students, and public education.
Group projects involve automated glacier terminus mapping, ICESat-2 snow depth analysis, and subglacial hydrology studies. Current student openings exist in her lab, with a focus on remote sensing and fieldwork in alpine and polar regions.
