Elliot Carter

Elliot Carter is a Lecturer in Geology at Keele University's School of Life Sciences, teaching Geochemistry, Economic Geology, Metamorphic Petrology, and field courses. His research examines volcanic system-fluid interactions and their role in Earth's climate cycle, with a focus on carbon sequestration pathways.

Research interests include oceanic crust alteration, ridge flank hydrothermal systems, and geochemical proxies for volcanic tempo. He participated in International Ocean Discovery Program expeditions, including two months at sea during Expedition 390.

Recent publications demonstrate a focus on oceanic geochemical processes (2021-2025), particularly fluid-rock interactions in the South Atlantic Transect. Earlier work addressed ophiolite metasomatism and building stone provenance.
