Ellie Ong

Dr. Ellie Ong is a Research Fellow at Monash University and an Adjunct Associate Lecturer at UNSW. Her work bridges physical oceanography and climate science, focusing on Southern Ocean dynamics and geophysical fluid dynamics. Currently, she contributes to the Centre of Excellence for 21st Century Weather, addressing discrepancies in equatorial Pacific sea surface temperature projections and their impact on Australian climate.

• Education: PhD in Physical Oceanography (UNSW), investigating Antarctic Slope Current dynamics via idealised and realistic models.

Her research leverages computational modeling to reconcile climate model outputs with observational data, targeting regional climate predictability. She integrates interdisciplinary approaches, aligning ocean circulation studies with atmospheric and climate sciences.
