Ellen-ge Denton, Psy.D., M.S., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, Research (SMD), affiliated with the Youth Suicide Research Consortium (YSRC). Her research focuses on building mental health capacity and suicide prevention in resource-limited settings, with an emphasis on biopsychosocial factors influencing depression and suicide risk. She holds a BA in Psychology from Hampton University (2003), a Psy.D. in School Psychology from St. John's University (2008), and an M.S. in Biostatistics-Clinical Research Methods from Columbia University Medical Center (2013).
Dr. Denton has worked at New York/Columbia Presbyterian Hospital and Columbia University Medical Center. She currently serves on the steering committee for the Youth Suicide Research Consortium and A-Sanctuary orphanage in Guyana. Her teaching and mentoring efforts have centered on guiding City University students toward doctoral programs.
Her work integrates clinical research methods, public health, and community-based participatory approaches to address mental health disparities globally. She has contributed to multiple peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on suicide prevention strategies and youth mental health infrastructure.
