Ellen Prusinski

Ellen Prusinski is the Marlene & David Grissom Associate Professor of Education at Centre College, where she also serves as Chair of the Education Program for CentreTerm and Spring Term 2025. She is affiliated with interdisciplinary programs including Social Justice Education and Gender Studies, reflecting her commitment to equity and inclusive pedagogy.

Her research lies at the intersection of politics and education, with a focus on non-formal and community-based learning, particularly in international contexts across Asia. She investigates how community knowledge and values shape educational practices and works to expand access to environmental education for underserved populations. Her work is deeply informed by field experience in China, Indonesia, and U.S. policy institutions.

Ellen's scholarly contributions are supported by prestigious recognition, including a Fulbright Fellowship for her dissertation research on women’s transnational labor migration in Indonesia. She has been a member of Centre College’s faculty since 2014, initially serving as coordinator of engaged and experiential learning before returning to full-time teaching in 2018.
