Ellen Ballard

Ellen Ballard is a Lecturer in the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology at the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies, Georgia State University. Her research investigates how individuals with major mental disorders interact with the criminal justice system, alongside secondary interests in substance abuse, desistance from crime, and quantitative methods.

Her published work appears in journals such as:

Ellen has served as an independent evaluator for the Fulton County Superior Court’s Adult Felony Drug Court and Veteran’s Court. She teaches courses on Mental Health Issues in the Criminal Justice System, Research Methods, and Perspectives on violence, aggression, and injustice.
