Wiener teaches courses in American government, public policy, and social science research methods. Her research examines the intersection of lobbying, descriptive representation, and substantive representation in state-level policymaking, particularly for historically excluded groups.
Current projects include a book analyzing how women's issue lobbyists interact with legislators across U.S. states, employing mixed methodologies such as case studies, qualitative research, and large-scale quantitative analysis. She previously worked as a Legislative Associate and Lobbyist on Capitol Hill, which continues to influence her academic work.
