Elizabeth Ryann Thompson, MSN, RN, CNE, CNE-cl, CCRN, is an Instructor of Nursing at West Texas A&M University's Laura and Joe Street School of Nursing, where she has taught since 2023. Her courses include Nursing Concepts, Health Assessment, Pharmacology, Pathophysiology, and Critical Care Nursing. She also serves as an academic advisor, ANCC Director-Successor (effective 2026), and participates in departmental committees.
Thompson holds a BSN from Tarleton State University (2018) and an MSN in Nursing Education from Aspen University (2024). She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Nursing Practice in Executive Leadership at Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi, with anticipated graduation in December 2026.
Her research focuses on optimizing EMS-to-ED handoff communication using IMIST-AMBO and TeamSTEPPS frameworks to enhance patient safety. Primary interests include critical care protocols, emergency nursing workflows, clinical education methodologies, and healthcare communication systems.

Thompson maintains active clinical practice as a PRN nurse in BSA Health System's Emergency Department and Surgical ICU, where she chairs the ICU Morale Committee, co-chairs ED Nurse Governance, and will join the ECMO bedside nursing team in 2026. She holds leadership roles in:
