Dr. Elizabeth Robinson is an Assistant Professor of Music at South Dakota State University's School of Performing Arts, appointed in 2022. She serves as Marvin Maydew Piccolo Chair of the Topeka Symphony and actively performs with ensembles like the Colorado MahlerFest Orchestra and Heartland Opera. Her work focuses on expanding the flute repertoire through initiatives like the Flute New Music Consortium (FNMC), which she co-founded and now leads as Vice President.
Her research and creative activities include her debut album Aviary, honored by the American Prize, and the Aviary Quartet, dedicated to whimsical chamber music. She recently launched the South Dakota Chamber Winds, reviving 18th/19th-century chamber traditions. Dr. Robinson coordinates FNMC’s annual composition competition and collaborates with composers such as Zhou Long and Valerie Coleman.
Her recognitions include awards for artistic innovation and contributions to American music. She resides in Aurora, South Dakota, with her family and an eclectic menagerie.
