Elizabeth Reed is Professor and Co-Director of the Joint Doctoral Program in Global Health at San Diego State University's School of Public Health. She holds joint appointments with UC San Diego and affiliations with multiple research centers including the Center for Research on Sexuality and Sexual Health.
Her research examines structural drivers of health disparities, particularly gender-based violence, economic vulnerability, and HIV risk among marginalized populations globally. She leads NIH-funded projects developing mobile-enabled economic interventions to reduce adolescent pregnancy and intimate partner violence. Current grants include R21 HD097496 testing the 'Girls Invest' savings program for Latina adolescents.
Dr. Reed has published extensively on violence prevention, reproductive health, and migration-related health disparities. Recent work explores cyber sexual harassment impacts on adolescent mental health and substance use. She mentors numerous graduate students and has received awards including the Tribute to Women & Industry Humanitarian Award.
