Elizabeth R. Varon is the Langbourne M. Williams Professor of American History at the University of Virginia and serves as Associate Director of the John L. Nau III Center for Civil War History. Dr. Varon earned her Ph.D. from Yale University in 1993 and her B.A. from Swarthmore College in 1985.
