Elizabeth R. Jarvo is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of California, Irvine (UCI). Her research focuses on inorganic, organometallic, and organic chemistry, with an emphasis on catalytic methodologies and synthetic strategies. She leads the Jarvo Group, which has produced numerous high-impact publications in journals like Angewandte Chemie, Organic Letters, and Journal of the American Chemical Society. Her work has been recognized with awards including the WCC ACS Rising Star Award and the SynLett Best Paper Award.
Dr. Jarvo has advised over 30 graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, and visiting researchers, many of whom have gone on to prestigious positions in academia and industry. Her group’s research spans topics such as nickel-catalyzed domino reactions, earth-abundant metal catalysis, and sustainable synthetic methods. Notable contributions include the development of enantioselective propargylation reactions and reductive coupling strategies.
Recent highlights include a News & Views article in Nature (2023), an Editors’ Choice publication in Organic Letters (2023), and cover art in Organic Letters (2021).
