Dr. Elizabeth Musgrave is an Honorary Lecturer at the School of Architecture, Design and Planning, The University of Queensland. Her research focuses on architectural history with emphasis on subtropical modernism, Queensland architectural identity, and climate-responsive design. She holds an MPhil (2005) and a thesis on 'Garden poetry' (1987). Notable works include the book John Dalton: subtropical modernism and the turn to environment in Australian architecture (2023) and studies on tropical housing, shadow studies, and John Dalton's legacy.
Her research spans topics like béton aggloméré in Queensland, postmodern architecture, and the split skillion roof's evolution. She actively contributes to architectural education through studies on studio teaching methodologies and tacit knowledge transfer. Her work frequently explores Queensland's architectural history, climate influences, and the interplay between art and architecture.
Musgrave has presented at international conferences (SAHANZ, iNTA) and published extensively in journals like Journal of Architecture, Architectural Theory Review, and Fabrications.
