Dr. Elizabeth Mendenhall is an Associate Professor in the Department of Marine Affairs at the University of Rhode Island, with expertise in Ocean Policy and the International Law of the Sea. Her research focuses on ocean governance, including the Law of the Sea Convention, maritime nuclear transit, artificial island building, sea level rise, marine plastic debris, and the 'Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction' negotiations. She teaches graduate and general education courses on international ocean law and the politics of the ocean.
