Elizabeth Kensinger is Professor and former Chair of Psychology and Neuroscience at Boston College. Funded by NIH and NSF, her research investigates emotion-cognition interactions across the adult lifespan using fMRI and behavioral methods.
Her laboratory examines neural mechanisms of emotional memory enhancement, age-related positivity effects in recall, and sleep's role in memory consolidation. Recent work explores pandemic impacts on memory and wellbeing across age groups.
Honors include the 2022 Psychonomic Society Mid-Career Award and 2011 Cognitive Neuroscience Society Young Investigator Award. She directs NIH-funded projects on emotional memory retrieval in aging.
