Elizabeth Galway is Professor and former Chair of English at the University of Lethbridge, where she serves as Director of the Institute for Child and Youth Studies (I-CYS) and holds the Board of Governors Research Chair (Tier 1) in Children's Literature and Culture. She earned her PhD in English from the University of Exeter, an MA in English Studies from Durham University, and an Honours BA in English & Classical Civilizations from the University of Toronto.
Her research explores:
- Children's literature in historical and cultural contexts
- Representations of war and national identity
- 19th-century literary traditions
- Interdisciplinary approaches to childhood studies
Major awards include
- Board of Governors Research Chair (Tier 1)
As I-CYS Director, she leads interdisciplinary research initiatives and student mentorship programs. She has supervised graduate students including Dustin Grue on school story traditions.
