Elizabeth Engle serves as Assistant Professor of Economics at Macalester College and is a faculty affiliate for the Wilson Sheehan Lab for Economic Opportunities (LEO) at the University of Notre Dame.
Her academic credentials include:
- BA in Classics with minor in Mathematics from Davidson College (2015)
- PhD in Economics from Harvard University (2023)
Specializing in labor economics, Professor Engle investigates policies affecting low-wage workers through empirical analysis of occupational licensing barriers, home care worker protections, and port labor contracts. Her current research evaluates long-term outcomes of career-focused mentoring programs in partnership with Boston non-profits, aiming to remove structural barriers to economic advancement. Prior to graduate studies, she completed volunteer service with isolated elders in Chicago.
Outside academia, she engages with piano performance, extensive reading, and Spanish language study while using she/her/hers pronouns.
