Elizabeth Croy

Elizabeth Croy is a Professor of Voice at Montana State University's College of Arts and Architecture, School of Music. She specializes in vocal pedagogy, art song performance, and somatic practices. Her academic background includes a Master of Music in Vocal Performance (1989) and Bachelor of Music Education (1985), both from the University of Colorado-Boulder, where she studied with Dr. Barbara Doscher.

Professor Croy's research focuses on the intersection of music, movement, and emotional well-being. With twenty years of yoga practice and certification as a yoga instructor, she integrates somatic practices including Little Flower Yoga, Kripalu Yoga in the Schools, and SomaSoul into her teaching methodology. She designed and teaches 'The Art of Mental Healing,' exploring the relationship between arts and mental health.

Her scholarly work examines how movement, music, and the arts impact social and emotional well-being, with applications in Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) frameworks. She has received grants from the MSU Provost Office for research on 'Goethe and German Lieder' and 'Training Musicians with Somatic Movement.'

Professor Croy teaches studio voice, diction, and vocal pedagogy courses. She collaborates regularly with pianist Julie Gosswiller on art song recitals and recordings. Regionally, she is a frequent soprano soloist with Montana symphonies and orchestras and has performed roles with the Intermountain Opera. She has participated in prestigious programs including the Vancouver International Song Institute, Cleveland Art Song Festival, and Banff School of Fine Arts.
