Elizabeth Colen is a Senior Lecturer at Western Washington University, affiliated with the English Department and Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGSS). She holds an MFA from the University of Washington and a BA from Georgia State University. Her work focuses on experimental writing, queer literature, and apocalyptic narratives. She teaches courses in creative writing and queer studies, including ENG 451 (Fiction Writing Seminar) and WGSS 213 (Intro to Queer & Sexuality Studies).
Colen's research integrates social justice activism, with awards including Lambda Literary and Audre Lorde nominations. Her publications span poetry, fiction, and hybrid genres, including Money for Sunsets and The Green Condition. She is a nonfiction editor at Tupelo Press and member of the Kulshan Academy for Queer Artists.
