Elizabeth Clendinning is Associate Professor and Associate Chair of Music at Wake Forest University, specializing in Balinese gamelan and Indonesian performing arts. She directs Gamelan Giri Murti ensemble.

- Transmission of Indonesian arts in global contexts
- Cultural sustainability and environmental connections
- American gamelan communities
- Pedagogical approaches to world music
- Representation in film/media
Her publications include American Gamelan and the Ethnomusicological Imagination and co-authorship of Focus: Gamelan Music of Indonesia. Current bamboo suling research received AIFIS-Luce funding.
She has held leadership roles in the Society for Ethnomusicology including Council membership and chair of Women's Status Committee.
