Elizabeth Chang is a Professor of Violin and Strings Area Coordinator at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and faculty member of the Juilliard School’s Pre-College Division. She serves as Artistic Director of the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival and co-founder/director of the Lighthouse Chamber Players, Five College New Music Festival, and UMass Amherst Bach Festival. A renowned violinist, she has performed globally and released acclaimed CDs including Sonatas and Myths (2024) and Transformations (2021).
Educated at Harvard University, she has held roles at NYU and Rutgers. Her work bridges performance, education, and arts leadership, emphasizing new music advocacy and pedagogy through initiatives like the Violin Duo Project, which commissioned over 60 works for student duos. Her awards include the Presidential Scholar in the Arts and Beebe Fellowship.
Chang leads programs like the Music, Community Engagement, and Social Action speaker series and has collaborated with composers such as Lewis Spratlan. Her career spans solo performances, chamber music, and educational outreach, reflecting her commitment to interdisciplinary artistry and community impact.
