Elizabeth A. Edinger

Elizabeth A. Edinger serves as Associate Professor of Information Services and Director of the Law Library at The Catholic University of America's Columbus School of Law, a position she has held since 2014 after joining as Associate Director and Head of Public Services in 2007. Her academic leadership spans legal research instruction and library administration within one of the nation's prominent Catholic law schools.

Professor Edinger's research focuses on the intersection of legal methodology and information systems, emphasizing real-world contextualization in legal problem-solving as reflected in her teaching philosophy: "To master legal research, I believe you must understand the context of the problem – that is, you must see it in a real world setting." Her scholarly contributions prioritize pedagogical innovation in legal research through foundational textbooks and journal editorship rather than traditional journal articles.

Her professional service includes active membership in the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL), where she has served on the Committee on Relations with Information Vendors, the Special Committee on Fostering Legal Research as a Subject Specialty, and as AALL Representative to the National Equal Justice Library. Prior to CUA, she developed her expertise as a Reference Librarian at UC Berkeley, Rutgers University, and Yale law libraries, and taught Advanced Legal Research as a Lecturer in Residence at Berkeley.
