Eliud Chuffe is an Associate Professor in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of Arizona. He has served as Director of Basic Languages for over 18 years and currently holds the position of Director of Undergraduate Studies. His academic work focuses on Spanish Golden Age Literature, Cervantes’ Don Quixote, and innovative methodologies in Spanish language instruction. He has extensive international teaching experience through study abroad programs in Guadalajara, Mexico, and Segovia & Alcalá de Henares, Spain.
Dr. Chuffe earned both his MA and Ph.D. from the University of Arizona. He has co-authored and edited three scholarly books on Spanish language pedagogy and curriculum development. His teaching portfolio includes advanced courses like SPAN 498H Honors Thesis and SPAN 510 Development of Spanish Medieval/Renaissance/Golden Age Literature.
Outside formal instruction, he oversees academic programs and maintains active involvement in study abroad initiatives. His professional contributions bridge literary scholarship with practical language education strategies.
