Elisio Macamo

Elisio Macamo is Professor of Sociology with a focus on Africa at the University of Basel, Faculty of Humanities, Department of Social Sciences. He is actively engaged in research and teaching on African studies, sociological theory, and the intellectual agendas of the global South.

His research interests include African studies, development sociology, intellectual history of the global South, post-comparative area studies, and sociological methodology. He emphasizes the epistemic contributions of African thought and critiques Eurocentric frameworks in social science.
