About
Dr. Elise Droste is a Senior Research Associate at the School of Environmental Sciences, University of East Anglia, and a member of the Centre for Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences. She holds a BSc in Liberal Arts and Sciences from Maastricht University and an MSc in Earth & Environment from Wageningen University. Her PhD research focused on carbon uptake in sea ice-covered regions of the Arctic and Southern Oceans.
Her research explores polar marine biogeochemistry, carbon cycling, and atmosphere-ocean interactions. Key projects include MOSAiC (Multidisciplinary drifting Observatory for the Study of Arctic Climate), SO-CHIC (Southern Ocean Carbon and Heat Impact on Climate), and PICCOLO (Processes Influencing Carbon Cycling: Observations of the Lower limb of the Antarctic Overturning). Fieldwork includes expeditions to both polar regions.
Publications focus on sea ice-carbon feedbacks, marine carbonate chemistry, and iodine speciation in aerosols. Research integrates observational data with climate impact assessments.
