Elisabeth Windle is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of English and the Department of Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Washington University in St. Louis. She holds a PhD in English and American Literature from Washington University, an MA from the same institution, and a BA from Austin College. With over two decades of teaching experience, she specializes in First-Year Seminars, Literary Theory, Queer Literature, and the True Crime genre. Her research explores queer culture’s use of nostalgia in media and literature, published in MELUS and Camera Obscura.
Dr. Windle has received notable awards, including the Humanities Faculty Appreciation Winner (2021-2022) and College Writing Instructor of the Year (2019-2020). She actively advocates for non-tenure-track faculty through her role on the Association for Teaching, Research, and Practice Faculty’s Executive Board. Recent grants include funding from Literacies for Life and Career (2024-2025) and the Bauer Leadership Center. Her service roles include leading pedagogy initiatives and advising student groups.
