Dr. Elisa Wessels is a Lecturer for special tasks at the Faculty of Sociology, Universität Bielefeld, specializing in Qualitative Methods of Empirical Social Research under Prof. Dr. Ayaß. She joined the university in the summer semester of 2023. Her research focuses on conversation analysis, ethnomethodology, narrative identity, and narrative interviews. Wessels holds a PhD from the University of Münster (2023), where her dissertation explored foreign repetitions in adolescent and young adult interactions. She previously contributed to projects such as the DFG-funded study on linguistic politeness among adolescents (2016–2019) and worked on the Teaching Corpus of Language Biographies project at the University of Münster.
Her academic background includes a Master’s in Linguistics (2015) and a scholarship at the University of Wuppertal (2019). She is affiliated with the BiSEd members of the Faculty of Sociology and engages in teaching and research at the intersection of qualitative methods and sociolinguistics.
