About
Elisa Kwun serves as a Lecturer and Master of Urban Forestry Leadership (MUFL) Program Coordinator in the Department of Forest Resources Management at the University of British Columbia's Faculty of Forestry. Based at Vancouver's Forest Sciences Centre, she has managed MUFL program operations since 2022 and maintained connections with UBC's Urban Forestry program since 2018, providing continuous support to students and instructional teams.
Her research examines urban forestry education competencies across Canadian institutions, with emphasis on community-based climate action projects. She integrates place-based participatory approaches to bridge theoretical knowledge and practical implementation in ecosystems management, urban greening initiatives, and pedagogical frameworks for forestry education. Key focus areas include climate-resilient green infrastructure development and translating academic concepts into actionable community solutions.
Prior to her current role, Kwun coordinated climate engagement projects through the Collaborative for Advanced Landscape Planning (CALP), including the Oak Bay Coolkit initiative and Vancouver School Board climate education resources. She actively supports students in community-driven climate adaptation work while advancing urban forestry leadership training through the MUFL program's professional curriculum.
