Eline Frison

Eline Frison is a postdoctoral researcher at the School for Mass Communication Research, KU Leuven. Her work focuses on the impact of social media (particularly Facebook and Instagram) on adolescent well-being, mental health, and social dynamics.

Her research explores themes such as loneliness, self-esteem, depressive symptoms, and peer victimization in digital contexts. She employs longitudinal and daily diary methodologies to investigate reciprocal relationships between social media use and psychological outcomes.

Frison’s dissertation, honored with the Top Dissertation Award by the ICA’s Children, Adolescents, and Media Division, synthesizes findings from six peer-reviewed articles published in journals like Communication Research and Computers in Human Behavior. These studies address how social networking platforms influence emotional health and social needs in adolescents.
