Elin Williams

Elin Williams is a Lecturer in FinTech Law at Edge Hill University, based in the School of Law, Criminology and Policing. She also serves as a PhD Candidate in Law at the University of Liverpool, focusing on regulating cryptocurrency-based money laundering. Prior roles include Associate Tutor (Edge Hill University) and University Teacher (University of Liverpool).

Her research explores intersections of financial technology, crime, and regulatory challenges, with a focus on cryptocurrency, dark web governance, and anti-money laundering strategies. She has presented work at institutions including Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and Liverpool John Moores University, and contributed to organizing conferences for global crime prevention initiatives like the Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime.

Teaching & Engagement: Develops modules on finance, technology, and crime. Collaborates across disciplines, engaging with computer science and social justice institutions.
